AI / REAL-TIME TRANSLATION
Live Translate
Speak naturally. Reach another market.
A low-latency translation product for cross-border commerce. It was conceived to turn natural spoken language into a target language with as little setup and interruption as possible.

THE IDEA
Make another language feel immediate.
Live Translate explored how a seller could speak in their own language and communicate with customers in another market while the conversation was still happening.
The idea took shape in early August, when Google introduced a fast Gemini-based real-time translation capability. Its speed and ability to retain some vocal tone suggested that live translation could feel closer to a conversation than a conventional subtitle or transcription tool.

THE QUESTION
How can a cross-border seller speak naturally and be understood almost immediately?
THE APPROACH
The workflow removes studio-style complexity: choose the source and target languages, begin speaking and let the translation keep pace. The interface gives the original and translated lines stable positions so the user can follow what was said without losing the current moment.
In the prototype, translated output could begin within roughly 500 milliseconds after the speaker finished a phrase. That was an observed project result, not a guarantee for every device or network. The portfolio interaction uses a scripted English–Chinese sequence to demonstrate pacing without accessing a microphone or translation service.
A DESIGN CHOICE
Keep the language controls simple and let timing, readability and conversational rhythm do the work.
Play, pause or select a line in a scripted English–Chinese sequence. This browser sample does not access a microphone, capture speech or connect to a translation model.
